Food has always been a very important part of my life. It gives me strength, healthy body, skin & hair. It gives me pleasure.

When I was sixteen, I stopped eating meat. The reason behind my choice of dropping meat out of my diet was my compassion towards animal’s life and their welfare (I continued eating fish, eggs and diary products until later on).

I have to mention, that I’ve never before had problems with my skin, even as a teenager. Then suddenly after moving countries, pushing myself with studies, work and not much rest, my skin had started turning its back on me.
I had to closely look at my lifestyle & diet because I’ve realised that to make my skin better I had to make some changes in my life, I had to slow down and breath.

First of all, I’ve started writing down, what I was eating and noticed that dairy products and chocolate were making my skin break out. So I’ve cut down massively on dairy products and chocolate, which wasn’t easy but my skin cleared up within months (yes, it wasn’t an overnight miracle). As well due to my personal beliefs I’ve cut down my intake of fish and eggs.
Apart from that I’ve started looking closely at my skincare, hair care and make –up products, aiming for more natural and effective ones. As well, I’ve learned what rest and relaxation are. I’ve slowed down…

When it comes to my food, I love everything that is green (especially asparagus, spinach, avocado, broccoli, cucumber and parsley). I adore tomatoes, radish, peppers and many more. From the other hand, I’m not into Kale, which is very popular nowadays.
I like very much tofu, hummus and quorn (there are so many different options in shops, like Sainsbury's, that everyone can find something for them selves). When I cook and need oil, I use an olive oil. And if I fancy a slice of bread or sandwich I will have a wholemeal bread, because it helps to keep your tummy flat.

When I feel a bit peckish, I eat walnuts, apples (pink lady), bananas, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. My boyfriend is making really fantastic breakfast smoothies in the mornings by mixing berries, bananas, oats and soya milk or I’m having fortified with Vitamin B12 cereals with soya milk (very important vitamin if you don’t eat meat, dairy products, eggs and shellfish).

In the mornings I drink coffee with soya milk and a bit of cinnamon (this spice helps to burn belly fat to keep it flat). I don’t really like to drink bottles of water through the day. Instead of water I drink grapefruit juice, green tea or peppermint tea. And sometimes I add lemon or slice of ginger root to my tea. If you feel that you are getting a flu, fever etc. there is nothing better than a black tea with slice of ginger root and raspberry juice concentrate.

Every now and then I will have a take away, like Chinese and a dessert, like dairy free ice creams, chocolate or biscuits (yep, they exist and they are delicious).

In this blog and future posts, I just want to show you guys that life and diet without meat and with cutting down on dairy products can be tasty & healthy at the same time.
I’m going to write down about food I like and give you some simple recipes.
